I recently had the pleasure of attending the open day hosted by the Australian Islamic Cultural Centre at Masjid Bilal—Bilal Mosque—in Hinchinbrook. This wonderful event created a welcoming space for people of all backgrounds from across the Liverpool community to visit the mosque, meet members of the local Muslim community and deepen their understanding of Islamic culture and traditions. Open days like this are vital in fostering mutual respect and strengthening community bonds. They highlight the important role that mosques play in our local area, not only as places of worship but also as hubs for learning, charity and connection. It was inspiring to see so many residents walk through the doors, engage in meaningful conversations and show genuine interest in the beliefs and practices of their neighbours. These moments of openness and curiosity make our community stronger and more inclusive. I extend my sincere thanks to the Australian Islamic Cultural Centre and the dedicated team at Masjid Bilal for their warm hospitality and for creating such an informative and welcoming day. Their efforts truly help bring our communities closer together.
