They may be called Ladies Like To Lunch, but these ladies (and gentlemen!) like to do everything they can to support cancer services and those who are living with, or caring for someone with cancer, in south west Sydney. They came together with Liverpool Hospital and Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre staff to host a community barbecue to support Dry July. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to deliver sausage sandwiches fresh off the barbie to the hungry masses on a beautiful afternoon! We also delivered laughter, connection, and awareness of the benefits of alcohol-free living. The afternoon highlighted that community spirit can drive real change because fun and fellowship don't need alcohol. Dry July encourages Australians to take a month off alcohol, with funds raised supporting cancer patients, their families, and carers. The Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre uses these donations to provide vital services, including transport to life‑saving appointments, therapy programs, specialist nursing support, and more. I congratulate Ladies Like To Lunch for their initiative, and I thank the Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre and hospital staff for the extraordinary care they provide our community every day.
