Miller Library

25 March 2026

Over the past few days I have been blown away by the number of people who have reached out to me to express their love and concern for Miller Library. I am touched by the wonderful stories some have shared with me about the significant impact that Miller Library has had on their life. Each story is a powerful reminder of how essential this service is to people who live within the 2168 postcode. These stories were shared because of my petition to save Miller Library. One person, now a GP, spoke about growing up visiting the library each week, borrowing the maximum number of books, which is 10, and discovering the world through reading. They reflected that books shaped who they are today and feared that without this library, local children may grow up with screens instead of stories. Another local told me that Miller is the only branch where they can still access daily newspapers—a simple but vital service that is no longer available elsewhere. These stories were echoed by so many across our community. Miller Library is more than a building; it is access to knowledge, opportunity and connection. I thank everyone who shared their story with me.
