MTC Harmony Day

25 March 2026

Harmony Week is a time to celebrate the harmonious convergence of cultures we have in New South Wales. It is a reminder to continue to welcome the cultural contributions of people of diverse backgrounds who call Australia home. I was recently invited to join the Harmony Day celebration organised by the MTCFutureReady program at their Liverpool Training Centre. This program works from a belief in employment for everyone and thrives on enabling people to overcome barriers on their path to meaningful work. With a goal of creating an inclusive and respectful community, they partner with clients, employers, small business owners, and local groups to ensure that everyone belongs and has the chance to succeed. During the celebration event, which was beautifully MC'd by Regional Manager Amanda Smith, local participants and employers shared their journeys and performers share their culture and traditions with everyone. In reflecting on the theme of 'everybody belongs', I was struck by how important meaningful employment is to ensure that people feel valued and included, regardless of background or ability. Well done to the entire MTC Liverpool team for organising such a wonderful celebration of our diverse community!
