I rise to acknowledge Sahara Tellaoui, the Outstanding Young Carer at the Greater Western Sydney Young Champions Awards. Sahara is an exceptional young woman whose strength and compassion set her apart. As a Year 12 Prefect at Miller Technology High School, she balances the pressures of study and leadership while carrying responsibilities far beyond her years. During her mother's illness, Sahara stepped up to care for her family, managing the household and supporting her younger siblings with maturity and grace. Her quiet resilience speaks volumes. In the face of significant challenges, Sahara has shown courage, patience, and unwavering commitment to the people she loves. She represents the very best of our young leaders and reminds us of the powerful role young carers play in our community. I commend Sahara for her remarkable dedication and the example she sets for her peers. I also acknowledge her school and her family for supporting her on this journey.
