The annual Santacruzan pageant and Holy Mass in honour of the Flores de Mayo festival is a vibrant and deeply meaningful gathering that brings members of our Filipino community together in a shared expression of faith, culture and unity. Held at All Saints Catholic Church, Liverpool, the celebration is rich in colour, tradition and devotion. Flores de Mayo is a reflection of the deep devotion and respect that Filipinos have for the Virgin Mary and integrates expressions of faith into daily life. The procession, the prayers and the sense of joy throughout the event highlights the cultural and spiritual significance of this tradition. I acknowledge the Visayan Association of Australia, the Philippine Australia Global Alliance for Service and Advocacy, and the Philippine Community Council, for their dedication in bringing this event to life. Their ongoing efforts to preserve and share cultural heritage play an important role in strengthening our broader community. Ensuring that our broader community has the privilege of experiencing Flores de Mayo and the Santacruzan helps facilitate connection, inclusion and belonging. I am grateful for the warm welcome I always receive.
