Stella Wilson

07 August 2025

It is with great sadness that I share with the House the passing of a long-standing Liverpool resident. Stella Jean Wilson passed away in July, after an extraordinary 106 years of life. She became a beloved member of our community after moving to Liverpool in the 1940s, her kindness and dedication touching many lives. Reflecting her immensely charitable nature, Stella volunteered with Meals on Wheels for over 20 years. First, she delivered meals to people's homes as she learned to drive, and then cooked and prepared meals after she stopped driving. Her service was recognised with an award of the Office of the Order of Liverpool in 1987. Stella also supported pregnancy care at Liverpool Hospital, knitting blankets, booties, and caps for newborns. She was an active member of the Liverpool Historical Society, with her family photo albums capturing decades of change in the community she proudly called home. Stella's warmth, generosity, and consistent service left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, particularly by the parish community at All Saints Catholic Church, where she was a devoted parishioner. Vale Stella Wilson, Liverpool is so grateful for your many contributions.
