Tribute to Andy Snook

09 September 2025

I am deeply saddened to share that our community and the animals of south-west Sydney have lost a dear friend in Andy Snook. Andy, a Bonnyrigg local since 1982, passed away last week following a brief illness. He was best known as the man who could always be relied upon to reunite lost pets with their families, and he never asked for thanks or attention. Affectionately dubbed the "patron saint of lost pets", Andy's generosity and kindness shone brightly. With his microchip scanner in hand, Andy became a familiar and trusted figure across Liverpool, Fairfield and Canterbury-Bankstown. If a lost pet was found wandering the streets, people knew exactly who to call or to tag on social media. The many tributes across all parts of our community reflect the gratitude of thousands of families whose pets he helped return home. Despite honours from Fairfield and Liverpool councils, Andy was humble and always did his best for the animals and their humans. Andy's quiet dedication to community service leaves a lasting legacy. He will be remembered with deep gratitude. I offer my deepest condolences to his wife, Daphne, and his loved ones. Vale, Andy Snook. We have lost a true champion.
